Some card providers offer PINs, while others will allow you to use them with a chip and signature instead. Yes - but only if your card provider offers it. But, this method is more secure than a traditional magnetic stripe, which stores your card number and expiration date and is read by the terminal’s magnetic reader. The card does not physically appear to be any different from a credit or debit card. Sometimes these cards may also require the cardholder to enter their PIN to authorize the purchase. For each purchase you make, the chip generates a unique code for one-time use. Credit card companies and card networks like Visa, Mastercard, and American Express all began supporting chip-and-PIN transactions to better protect our consumer data.įor a chip card, the terminal reads a unique metallic chip embedded in the card’s magnetic stripe that holds your payment data to identify the card. How Do Chip and PIN Cards Work?Ĭhip and PIN cards were initially developed to reduce the likelihood of credit card theft and data breaches. However, debit card PINs are more commonly used in the U.S. Both are four-digit codes used to verify a transaction. There is not much difference between a credit card and a debit card PIN. That way, if one of your accounts gets compromised, it’ll be much harder for identity thieves to figure out your other account information. You should also create different personal identification numbers for your accounts instead of using the same one for all of them. If your card has a PIN, that means even if your card details are stolen and used to make a purchase, the payment might not go through unless the thief knows your PIN.Īnother security measure to take is to avoid using major dates, such as your birthday or anniversary, as well as your street address or any other easily identifiable numbers. When a card issuer wants you to use a PIN, they are doing their best to increase the security of your transaction by incorporating an additional layer of protection. When you authorize certain transactions, that code must get entered alongside your credit or debit card details to confirm that you are the card owner and ensure the integrity of the transaction. If you do not have a credit card PIN, you can contact your lender to request one.Ī PIN, or personal identification number, is a four-digit number assigned to a debit or credit card that only the account holder should know. While PINs are typically required for debit card transactions, there are situations where using a credit card requires a PIN.A PIN is a four-digit code used to confirm a debit or credit cardholder’s identity when making a purchase. This article explores all things about credit card PINs, how they work, and when you would need to use them. The rise in digital banking and the increasing complexity of modern financial products have led to more security measures being put in place by card issuers - which is great news for anyone concerned about their personal information. While less common, some credit cards now require you to enter a PIN when setting up the card or accessing certain features. You may wonder do credit cards have PINs as well? If you have a debit card, you have probably used a PIN (Personal Identification Number) before to complete a purchase or withdraw money from an ATM.

At Wrigley Field, one thing remains the same. Technology and creature comforts have upgraded everything from stadium seats to the locker rooms. Over the past century, stadiums across the nation have been modernized. Run or out, ball or strike, it keeps careful count during the game. Perched high above the bleachers in center field, the scoreboard sits for all to see. Then, eyes flit up to the big green scoreboard. Throughout the nearly four-and-a-half-hour game, everyone is laser focused on the action happening on the field. The home team here, the Chicago Cubs, hasn’t won a World Series since 1908, before Wrigley Field was built. The fifth game of the 2016 World Series has started, and more than 41,000 baseball fans have gathered to watch in nervous anticipation as the innings tick up – from the bottom of the seventh to the top of the ninth. CT and TV coverage will be via Marquee Sports Network. It’s a Sunday night in Chicago and the stands at Wrigley Field are packed. Jameson Taillon will start for the Cubs Saturday against Cardinals veteran righthander Adam Wainwright. This year they are 7-4 against their rivals with two games remaining, and have won their last five games against St. 2017 was also the last time before this year that the Cubs won the season series from the Cardinals. The Cubs haven’t won a four-game series in St. The Cubs will go for their eighth straight victory, and a series win in St. Even if that doesn’t work out, though, this team appears to at last be clicking. They absolutely are, and ought to think about a couple of upgrades before Tuesday’s trade deadline, perhaps adding a reliever or two and maybe a power bat. So much has gone wrong for this team, from bad pitching performances to injuries, yet here we are, with 59 games remaining and I don’t think any of you would argue that the Cubs aren’t in contention. This is how I thought this Cubs team could play, and as you know I’ve been saying so all year, that they’ve been playing below their talent level. They are also now just 3½ games behind the third wild card spot (currently held by the Giants) and just three down in the loss column. 500 on the road (25-25), and edged to within 4½ games of first place as the Brewers lost to the Braves. 500 for the first time since May 6, when a win over the Marlins at Wrigley Field made them 17-16. Hoerner called Tauchman’s game-ending catch “probably the most dramatic single play I’ve been a part of.” /ZlJhcRDG7P- Meghan Montemurro July 29, 2023 Īs he initially tracked the ball, Tauchman wasn’t sure it would be that close to wall but as he kept going and got to warning track, he had time to adjust & prepare to jump. The first two Cubs were routine outs in that inning, then Patrick Wisdom sent one deep into the St. The Cubs got one of the runs back in the fifth. I will be glad to not see him play against the Cubs again after Sunday. Nootbaar has just worn out Cubs pitching this year. Wasn’t the point of sending him to Iowa to stretch him out to start?ĭrew Smyly then entered in relief, as he had done on Saturday, and Nootbaar did it again, a leadoff homer in the bottom of the third to give the Cardinals a 2-0 lead. Honestly, I thought he could have gone longer - he threw only 35 pitches. Wesneski, recalled to start this game, settled down and allowed nothing else in two innings of work. Didn’t we see this game last Saturday at Wrigley? Lars Nootbaar homered off Hayden Wesneski to lead off the first inning. Now let’s rewind and look at the rest of this exciting win. Jim Deshaies said, “That is spectacular,” and that’s good enough for me. Almost don’t have enough superlatives for that, so I’m not even going to try. Perfectly timed, made sure he grabbed it and held on tight, and then a celebration began. wow, that’s one of the best that I have ever seen. I’ve watched that about half a dozen times and. So the name is quite misleading.Īnyway I am going to write a complaint about my issue, with pictures about the defective product, and I really hope that they will handle the situation positively and helpfully. Are you sick of peeing on yourself, overflow Trying to figure out how to make your STP work for you Trust me you are not alone There are different styles. (or maybe I just got unluky and recieved a poorly manufactured piece, in that case I really hope Axolom can send me a new and properly functioning one, so that I can change my opinion about the product later) Also although they sell it as a 3in1 product, Im sure you wouldnt be able to have sex with it, only by buying the stp, you also have to buy a rod which is a quite expnsive component. But if you look for something you can use in your everyday life I dont think you should count on this product more that a few months, which is a huge disadvantage. Description: Zeus is a robust 3-in-1 STP packer with a 6.3-inch shaft, providing confidence and convenience. Axolom Zeus 3-in-1 Stand-to-Pee (STP) Packer (6.3' Shaft) Add to cart. Besides theres also a darker hole-like spot inside the shaft, which is definitely a manufacturing defect.Īpart from these it looks great, I also like the colour and the size, feels comfortable most of the time, and the price was very reasonable and kind of affordable to anyone. Description: The Handy is a compact and practical 3-in-1 STP packer designed for ease of use. Passing the grab test is a no brainer with this feature. I think its important to mention that I only use it for peeing and only when i have to use a urinal or there isnt a restroom nearby (so not that much overall). Another feature we introduced in our original product, each prosthetic includes a full 3D scrotum that features anatomically accurate testicles that float freely in a liquid silicone gel. Below the shaft there are two big ruptures (that are getting bigger and bigger), therefore im anxious every time I have to use a urinal, cause I might pee all over myself. But now that I use it, I realised that its not really durable. It may not look like a dick, but it's super easy to get the hang of. If you've had trouble using other STP devices, give the pStyle a try. The slim design and hard plastic make it compatible with every type of body. I bought this product in 2021 september, but since its really tricky to use and I didnt have the time to practice properly back then, I wasnt able to use it in my everyday life for about a year or so. The pStyle - 12 The pStyle is hands down the best STP to learn on. Lumbering Chambal's overwhelm handles Taunt troops pretty well (it's worth picking up the piece of gear that cancels taunt when played by the enemy if you find it). Each battle begins with casting Omen of the End, then Lumbering Chambal, then probably another troop or maybe some direct damage. Almost all battles are a 2-turn win (final boss tends to take 3-4). 5 cards means you can mulligan to have Omen of the End and Lumbering Chambal in your starting hand. That's where planning your moves and putting together your deck to maximize damage to your foes is important to your success. You can choose to try to avoid combat, but fighting is inevitable. There is a stunning amount of variety of cards and strategies at your disposal. Every game of combat you have access to two decks- one has your convoy (creature) cards and the other has your leader (spells) cards. But a vision leads you to an ancient satellite that has crashed to Earth. You are a tech-prophet in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, scraping by in the ruins of what was in the far past a technologically advanced society. I was able to do it a second time as well (just make sure to heal your cards if any get damaged). Nowhere Prophet is a randomly generated strategy game that features maps with different pathways to the goal, but each pathway is full of dangers. Pick fights with greedy slavers and crazy machines using the turn-based card combat. What I love about Nowhere Prophet is that it combines the turn-based deck-building genre with the rogue-lite survival genre. A 2019 turn-based combat/digital card game from developer Sharkbomb Studios, No More Robot and creator Martin Nerurkar. I started the game with Omen of the End Lumbering Chambal Berserker Nir Mercenary Bandit Sapper and was able to win every battle in the whole game using a convoy deck of just those 5 cards. Omen of the End takes 5 to cast, kills all your existing troops and then refills your cells (meaning 10 more). Battery gives you 10 cells out of the gate (but only 5/turn) and Conscription lets you pick your troops. Once in battle the game changes to the turn-based card game mode. And sometimes you may even want to pick a fight for righteousness or just for loot. You will have to overcome some enemies to keep your convoy and resources together. NOWHERE PROPHET is a nice game that mixes deck builders with turn-based combat. If you're trying to get 500 battles, I recommend running with Battery, Conscription and +200 food and +200 hope. At its heart are two distinct parts of gameplay: Travel and combat.TRAVELDuring travel you navigate across a procedurally generated map. Equip your prophet or level up and learn new skills to have access to stronger action cards in combat. When youve moved and possibly attacked with all your units, you end the. end of each chapter) that you pretty much have an endless churn of combat. “I laughed, I learned, I loved it.” -Roy Blount, Jr. “The zaniest bestseller of the year.” - The Boston Globe "What happens when you mix corny jokes, one-liners and vaudeville humour with some of life's great lessons? You get an extraordinary read you'll want to share with as many people as possible." - Orlando Sentinel Love art in all its forms." know their stuff, and wear their learnedness lightly, and Plato and a Platypus is a pleasure to read.…I can't help but love this book, and I have been quoting liberally from it" - Philosophy Now Teacher of writing at Heartland Community College. Writer of poetry, novels and short stories. Outrageously funny, Plato and a Platypus Walk into a Bar. Plato and a Platypus Walk into a Bar: Understanding Philosophy Through Jokes This New York Times bestseller is the hilarious philosophy course everyone wishes they’d had in school. I plan to put it into several Christmas stockings this season. Plato and the Platypus is pure pleasure the type of book you can discuss with friends late into the night over a good bottle of wine. Secretary: “Doctor, there’s an invisible man in the waiting room.” The German philosopher Immanual Kant thought that knowledge of the external world could only come through the senses and that we could know nothing about things as they are in themselves (their essence). Here’s another example of the book’s side-splitting, philosophical humor. The joke pokes fun at how we are contradictory in life the Irishman is both a drinker and a non-drinker, alone and together. “No,” says the Irishman, “I joined the church and I can’t drink anymore.” The bartender thinks one of the brothers must have died. Several months later, the Irishman returns to the bar and asks for only two pints. “Oh,” says the Irishman, “these two are for my brothers we promised we’d drink together when we were alone.” The bartender asks why he’s taking one sip from each. To illustrate the Law of Noncontradiction, which says nothing can both be so and not be so at the same time, the authors tell this story….Īn Irishman orders three pints of Guinnes, takes just one sip from each, and then repeats. Think you can’t comprehend metaphysics, logic, existentialism, rationalism think again. Plato and Platypus explores serious human questions in a way that one not only understands them, but also embraces them with humor and intelligibility. The pages are simply a hoot, laugh-out-loud entertainment while also being a crash course in a subject you probably thought your could never fathom. In here too are some of life’s greatest lessons made comprehensible and laughable by two very clever authors. Actually, this non-fiction best seller is really a thought provoking, sophisticated jester of a book with a byproduct: understanding the great thinkers of the world as never before. If you never cared to read a philosophy book, but wondered about the BIG QUESTIONS this is the book for you. And for the second time in my life, I am enjoying philosophy, with humor to boot. But, alas decades later, I hold in my hand, Plato and a Platypus Walk into a Bar, by Thomas Cathcart & Daniel Klein, a New York Times bestseller about understanding philosophy through stories and jokes. Trying to grasp the perplexing questions of life like, “Why are we here?” and “What’s it all about?” hardly seemed a subject for humor. analyzed and interpreted by the super thinkers in history like Aristotle, Plato, Marx, Sartre, and Kierkegaard seemed anything but humorous. Metaphysics, logic, rationalism and existentialism etc. Being a Philosophy major in college, I never thought there was anything funny about the subject of philosophy. A covered health care provider, under HIPAA, is any health care provider who transmits health information in electronic form in connection with a transaction for which the Secretary of Health and Human Services has adopted a standard, even if the health care provider uses a business associate to do so. The NPI will be used by HIPAA-covered entities (e.g., health plans, health care clearinghouses, and certain health care providers) to identify health care providers in HIPAA standard transactions. Who must obtain NPI? : All health care providers who are HIPAA-covered entities, whether they are individuals (e.g., physicians, nurses, dentists, chiropractors, physical therapists, or pharmacists) or organizations (e.g., hospitals, home health agencies, clinics, nursing homes, residential treatment centers, laboratories, ambulance companies, group practices, Health Maintenance Organizations, suppliers of durable medical equipment, pharmacies) must obtain an NPI. Organization health care providers (e.g., hospitals, home health agencies, ambulance companies) are considered Entity Type 2 (Organization) providers. Sole proprietors and sole proprietorships are Entity Type 1 (Individual) providers. Entity Type 1 providers are individual providers who render health care (e.g., physicians, dentists, nurses). There are two categories of health care providers for NPI enumeration purposes. Where NPI should be used? : The NPI must be used in place of legacy provider identifiers, such as a Unique Provider Identification Number (UPIN), Online Survey Certification & Reporting (OSCAR) and National Supplier Clearinghouse (NSC) in HIPAA standard transactions. Covered health care providers and all health plans and health care clearinghouses must use the NPIs in the administrative and financial transactions adopted under HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act). 254b, and a deemed Public Health Service employee under 42 U.S.C. The NPI must be used in lieu of legacy provider identifiers in the HIPAA standards transactions. HOPE Clinic is a Health Center Program grantee under 42 U.S.C. This means that the numbers do not carry other information about healthcare providers, such as the state in which they live or their medical specialty. The NPI is a 10-position, intelligence-free numeric identifier (10-digit number). What is a NPI Number? : The National Provider Identifier (NPI) is a unique identification number for covered health care providers. This lower carbon content also reduces carbide precipitation in the heat-affected zone during welding. A lean austenitic alloy will harden to martensite (which has a brittle tetragonal structure) when it’s deformed.ģ04 stainless steel has a lower carbon content that reduces the risk of sensitization - aka the precipitation of carbides at the grain boundaries that causes susceptibility to intergranular corrosion. Lean alloys are those with less than 20% chromium and 14% nickel, and the leaner the alloy, the less stable the austenitic structure. It is considered to be a lean austenitic alloy, which is the most common type of stainless steel in production. 304 Stainless Steel – Tried & True General Purposeģ04 (S30400) is an austenitic chromium nickel stainless steel touted to be the general purpose stainless steel. Some examples of austenitic stainless steel grades are: 304, 309, 314, 316, 321, and 330. But austenitic stainless steels cannot be hardened through heat treatment. These types of stainless steels are stronger at higher temperatures for longer times than ferritic (body-centered cubic) steels, which makes them easy to weld and form. The chromium helps to improve the corrosion/oxidation resistance and the nickel stabilizes the austenitic face-centered cubic structure. Austenitic stainless steels are alloyed with chromium and nickel and typically have lower levels of carbon. This family of stainless steels are called austenitic because the have a very tough and ductile face-centered cubic structure. Pro-tip: The chromium in stainless steel is what makes it resistant to corrosion - the chromium on the surface reacts with oxygen to form a passive chromium oxide layer that protects the base metal from corrosion.Īustenitic stainless steels are non-magnetic and the most commonly utilized type of stainless steel. Read on to learn more about each grade and tips on selecting one for your next project! There are many grades of stainless steel, but two of the most popular are type 316 and type 304. Just as carbon strengthens iron, the addition of chromium increases steel’s toughness, hardness, and corrosion resistance. Stainless steel (SS) is an alloy that contains at least 10% chromium by weight. Unalloyed iron is soft and has limited uses, but the addition of carbon makes a much stronger and harder material. Steel is an alloy composed primarily of iron and carbon that’s rigid and sturdy, so it’s used for heavy-duty applications like infrastructure, industrial equipment, and tooling for CNC machining. Major planets discovered in the modern era It is not known if the Egyptian and Chinese logographs have any connection to the European astrological symbol. Similar in appearance were several variants of the ancestral form of the modern Chinese logograph for "sun", which in the oracle bone script and bronze script were. The modern sun symbol resembles the Egyptian hieroglyph for "sun" – a circle that sometimes had a dot in the center, ( U+131F3 □ EGYPTIAN HIEROGLYPH N005). (The conventional symbols for the signs of the zodiac also develop in the Renaissance period as simplifications of the classical pictorial representations of the signs.) The modern sun symbol, pictured as a circle with a dot ( U+2609 ☉ SUN), first appeared in the Renaissance. A diagram in Johannes Kamateros' 12th-century Compendium of Astrology shows the Sun represented by the circle with a ray, Jupiter by the letter zeta (the initial of Zeus, Jupiter's counterpart in Greek mythology), Mars by a shield crossed by a spear, and the remaining classical planets by symbols resembling the modern ones, without the cross-mark seen in modern versions of the symbols. Bianchini's planisphere, produced in the 2nd century, shows Greek personifications of planetary gods charged with early versions of the planetary symbols: Mercury has a caduceus Venus has, attached to her necklace, a cord connected to another necklace Mars, a spear Jupiter, a staff Saturn, a scythe the Sun, a circlet with rays radiating from it and the Moon, a headdress with a crescent attached. Maunder finds antecedents of the planetary symbols in earlier sources, used to represent the gods associated with the classical planets. The symbols for Jupiter and Saturn are monograms of the initial letters of the corresponding Greek names, and the symbol for Mercury is a stylized caduceus. The written symbols for Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, and Saturn have been traced to forms found in late Classical Greek papyri. In the original papyri of these Greek horoscopes, there was a circle with the glyph representing shine ( ) for the Sun and a crescent for the Moon. Symbols for the classical planets, zodiac signs, aspects, lots, and the lunar nodes appear in the medieval Byzantine codices in which many ancient horoscopes were preserved. Other symbols for astrological aspects are used in various astrological traditions. Their current form is a product of the European Renaissance. These originate from medieval Byzantine codices. Frequently used symbols include signs of the zodiac and classical planets. Historically, astrological and astronomical symbols have overlapped.
